example explanations

Artifact
OriginMysterious
ValueIncalculable [1]
OwnerUnknown

The artifact is a powerful item of particular interest to different factions of the Sixth World.

The Example article starts with a short introduction to the topic, which is set to a bold font weight for its first occurrence. Infoboxes that provide a quick overview are usually placed to the right of the introductory text.

HistoryEdit

Little is known about the artifact prior to 2046, when it made its first appearance in Jerusalem shortly after the United Nations took control of the city.[2]

The different factions' battle over the artifact will likely continue into the future, even though it is right now in the possession of an unknown faction.[3]

The article topic is further developed in subsections that discuss for example its history.

ReferencesEdit

  1. Yet Another Source p.92 Shadowtalk Elijah
  2. Some Source p.23
  3. This conclusion can be drawn from the ending of Some Source. (SS p.138)
The references start the meta-information portion of the article. Ideally the ref-tag should be used to place footnote markers in the article text which will then reappear here. The list of references should be primarily taken from official or semi-official Shadowrun sources. It can include explanations why the topic is presented a particular way or one information was chosen over the other between contradicting sources. The references can be omitted for short articles.

CommentsEdit

  • Despite its lengthy discussion in Some Source the artifact remains the most mysterious item in Shadowrun lore. Practically nothing is known about it. It is on par with the "item" and the "thing" known from other role-playing franchises.
The Comments section is for discussing the article topic on a meta-level. How does it function as part of the Shadowrun universe, something about the development, cultural references etc.

InconsistenciesEdit

  • Some Other Source mentions that the artifact emerged briefly in 2023, even though Yet Another Source explains why it reappeared in 2046 and very likely not before that date in the modern age. (SOS p. 69 -- YAS p. 115)
The Inconsistencies section lists all contradictions that can be found between sources regarding the topic.

Writing variantsEdit

  • artifact (not capitalized) - SS
  • Artifact (always capitalized) - SOS
  • ARTiFACT! - YAS
If there are multiple transcriptions of the topic name, they can be listed under the Writing variants subsection.

IndexEdit

  • Srcx4 Some Source, 23-46, 138
  • Srcx2 Some Other Source, 69
  • Yet Another Source, 92, 115
The Index section lists all of the sources for the topic (also those that have not yet been used in the article). In general there will be some redundancy between the meta-information sections. This should not be seen as problem. The Index is there to have one place in the article where all of the sources are collected, even if they have already been mentioned as references, in Comments or Inconsistencies. Also look to Template:srcx for a marker meant to further enhance the usefulness of the Index section.

Illustration indexEdit

  • Some Other Source, 69: Artifact worn by Lucius Verus
A separate index of illustrations can be placed in the Illustration index subsection.
