The Karatsa-gumi is a Yakuza syndicate based in San Francisco in the California Free State.
The Karatsa-gumi is an extremely violent Yakuza faction. Also known as the "Neon Chrysanthemum" (due to the bio-luminescent body decorations they favor), they will do whatever it takes to get what they want. They have no problem with collateral damage or harming civilians, as long as it doesn't anger the Japancorps.[1] Ever since the withdrawal of the Japanese occupation force, the Yakuza in San Francisco has lost territory. They still hold most of their holdings in Downtown, but have almost no influence anymore in either the East Bay or Silicon Valley.[2] The clan is a member of the Shotozumi-rengo.[3]
