Tibet
No one can get in or out of Tibet without powerful magic or The Seal of the Green Gloves bequeathed in Dunkelzahn's Will to Inazo Aneki, CEO of Renraku.[1]
History[]
2011 Tibet withdraws from China and erects a magical barrier around all of Tibet, The Maya Cloud, isolating it from the rest of the world. Sahquatches visit the Pangboche Monastery immediately after the awakening. The Cloud became even more powerful during the passing of Halley's Comet in 2061-2062, but since then began to weaken enough that some travel through the Maya Cloud became possible in 2064.
The country has effectively been sealed off from the world for over half a century. The people of Tibet mostly live an agrarian life, with the magic and influence of the Vajrayana (Tibetan) Buddhist monks pervading the entirety of society.
Politics[]
The head of state is nominally the Dalai Lama. However, with the death of the 15th Lama in 2061 Tibet is without a leader until the 16th Dalai Lama can be found. Until then, it is ruled by the two Stewards of Tibet: the 12th Panchen Lama, who is to tutor the young Dalai Lama; and the Nechung Kuten, or State Oracle.
Geography[]
Tibet is located within the Tibetan Plateau in southern Asia, with the Himalaya Mountains to the south and extending north past the Yangtze River. It borders Turkestan to the west, the Indian Union to the south and southwest, and the Chinese nation-states to the north, east and southeast.
Economy[]
The economy is based on sustenance farming and livestock.
There is no corporate presence within Tibet. However, several corporations and groups with interests in magic operate outside the border of the Maya Cloud, studying it and trying to get ahold of any magical artifacts (and people) that make their way out; specifically the Dunkelzahn Institute of Magical Research, the Atlantean Foundation, Wuxing, Inc., and the Apep Consortium.
